November Reading Reflection
The focus of your reading reflection will be one book you read over the past month. This reading reflection will have two parts. Each part will have multi-paragraphs. However, if you didn’t finish a book this reading cycle or didn’t make the required number of pages this will be difficult.
This reading reflection is not meant to be a polished piece of writing. I do, however, expect you to be mindful of Standard English, correct capitalization and punctuation.
First Part:
- How many pages did you read this month?
- What were the titles of the books you read?
- Did you abandon any books this month? If so, what were they?
- Based on the grading chart, what grade do you believe you deserve
A = 350– + = 20 pts
B = 249-349 = 17 pts
C = 148-248 = 15 pts
D = 147-97 = 13 pts
F = 0-97 = 11pts
Second Part:
Pick one book that you read this month as the focus of your reading reflection. Give me a 1 paragraph summary of the book. What do you think was the main idea of your book? Go back to your reading reflections in your notebook and reflect on: your reactions, thoughts, feeling, connections made, how characters changed, themes, etc. as you were reading.
Would you recommend/or not recommend this book to another person? Why? What is is about this book another person might like?
B = 249-349 = 17 pts
C = 148-248 = 15 pts
D = 147-97 = 13 pts
F = 0-97 = 11pts
- If you did not meet the page requirement, make a plan for next time. How will you meet the reading requirements?

JAYDEN DEATHERAGE This month I read over 300 pages probably 320-330. I read the book, “Flags of Our Fathers”. Plus about 10-20 pages from other book when I had forgotten mine at home during SSR. On the grading chart I guess I deserve a B, although I was only 10-20 pages away from an A. Next month I will do the same, read at home and always on wedsndays and during SSR to meet the requirements.
“Flags of Our Fathers”, was a great book. It told the history and main facts of WW2 in the pacific .especially islands such as Iwo Jima. Most people do not know the history of this heroic island. The rising of the flag, the confusions it brought to Americans, and the photograph that took it all. There is so much about this book that other people might like, the history, and action of this book, kept me reading it. My reaction in this book where always how intense this book was, because it was action packed, especially on D-day. I would recommend this book to people who like war books, action, and history books. But I believe everyone should read it, to know the history of the picture they always see, but don’t know what it means.

November Reading Reflection
This month I have read 351 pages. The books that I have read this month are a child called it and that summer. This month I have abandoned the book priceless. Based on the grading chart I think I deserve an A.
The book that I like the most that I have read this month was a child called it. The book was about this little kid named David and how his mother treated him when he was younger. His mother did many cruel things to him that came close to killing him. David has other brothers but they are not treated as bad as David is. His mother does not consider David apart of their family. David’s father tried to help him get food but his father couldn’t take it anymore with David’s mother and he left David there with her.
As I was reading this book I couldn’t help but feel sorry for David. He tried so hard to please his mother but it was never good enough for her. I was shocked that the school didn’t do much to help David out. At the start David talked about the good times that he had with his mother and than how it turned back so quick. His mother used to be the “perfect” mom and wife.
I would recommend this book to another person because it is a real life stories that you wouldn’t think about actuality happening. Things about this book that other people might like is that it’s a true story and also as your reading the book its like you can picture what David is going through as you read his story.
Randy Armstrong PART 2 - 1RED
One thing that made me so happy reading about is that it doesn’t take money to make money, my mom was always talking about how you have to have money to do this and have to have to have money to that, and when I told her I wanted to open my own business one day, she said “you have to have money to make money.” But Robert disagrees. he said the only think you really need is determination willingness to lean and know the difference from an asset and liability. So okay maybe I don’t agree 100% with that, but that's pretty close to what I thought. Another great thing I read about was that no matter how much money you make, you should always try to invest it, but don’t just go right out and invest it, first learn how to and what are the best companies to invest in. So next year when I turn 18 I want to take a investing class, to learn how to invest, then start investing. Reading these books are very beneficial for me and are defiantly worth taking the time out to read them. I think the main idea about both of these books is to teach you how money works and what not to do, along with what to do with your money. I would definitely recommend this book to everyone, I think everyone should learn the stuff that is in this book.

This month I read 1043 pages. The books I read were Vanishing Act, Sold, Keeping Faith. No I didn’t abandon any books this month. I think I deserve an “A” because I read all the recommended pages that we were suppose to read.
This book I read Vanishing Act, by Jodi Picoult. Its about a woman who finds out she was kidnapped as a younger child by her own father. But the funny thing is, is that she is a search and rescue person for a living.
When she finds out her father kidnapped her as a child she goes to great lengths to get him out of prison where he is always beaten and bullied. On the journey to get him out of prison she meets her mother again who she has not seen for 28 years. She learns that her fiancé, who she has been dating since high school and was best friends since she was four took up drinking again after around 5 years and going through rehab. She also learns she is in love with her best friend, who has been best friends with her and her fiancé since they were all four.
While she is going through all this drama, she gets told that her mother was an alcoholic and she forgot about her a lot. So when she introduces her daughter to her grandmother after learning she was an alcoholic she says it was good for her to meat her.
This book makes me feel sad because who wants to know after 28 years that they were kidnapped from their own dad from a drunk mother and all she wants to do is protect her own kid.
I’d recommend this book to anyone who like Jodi Picoult because its another one of her great writings but this book is kind of a hard read to understand sometimes. A person may like this book because Jodi Picoult has a way to get people to connect in many ways and angles.

I read 250 pages this month. The two books I read were "The founding brothers" by Joseph Ellis and "Dope sick" by Walter Myers. For this month I believe that my grade should be a b. The book I most enjoyed reading was "Dope sick" this book was very interesting even on the first page. Lil J a teenage punk gets caught up when a deal with his friend Rico goes bad and the guy they are selling to is a cop. Rico is high so he decides out of no where t shoot up the cop. This just makes everything worse now every cop in the city is on Lil j's tail and with Rico in jail already he knows that they will get him. Running and hiding in fear with a bullet in his arm Lil J meets a guy Kelly who just might be able to turn his whole life around if Lil J would just listen. I would recommend this book to everyone. This book seems so real you feel like you are sitting there watching all of it happen right in front of your eyes.

This month I have read 466 total pages out of two books. Need to Argue, and Summer Ball. This month I have not abandoned any books, although I am still finishing Summer Ball now. I feel that this month I deserve an A, because I read over 100 pages extra.
I would like to focus my reading reflection on the book Need to Argue, it was a very good book completely based on different peoples opinions of the best professional basketball players of all time, and stories about each player relating to their struggle, and story to the NBA. During this book I only reflected once inside my notebook because I finished it so fast. But in this one reflection I said “ I do not agree with the author having Michael Jordan as the 4th best player ever, when in my eyes he is the best of all time.” My thoughts on this reflection are that they are completely true because I still believe that (MJ) is the best player ever and always will be!
I would recommend this book to another person because it is very informational, and gives interesting stories about players that I am sure most people didn’t already know. And also it is a good book to agree, and disagree with, and with some readers that is a fun thing to do while reading.

This month I think that I read a little over two hundred pages and the book that i read was The Naked Truth. I didn't abandon any books this month because this month all i focused on was The Naked Truth because that book was so interesting i didn't want to read anything else. The grade that I think that i deserve is at least a B, next time I plan on trying to read more while i'm at school when I get the free time to do it.
The book that I have mainly been focusing on is The Naked Truth because it's about a young girl who just found out she has a disease she can't get rid of and has to deal with it for the rest of her life. When she finds out that she has this disease she thinks that her life is over but really its not because the doctor said she could live a long healthy life as long as she takes her medicine. Now starting off a life with a disease she starts talking about it to other younger kids so she can prevent them from getting what she got too.
As I was reading tis book I think that she has changed a lot because her who life is now changing because of one little mistake of not having safe sex. I think that in this book it teaches you a lot because everybody should be having safe sex and none of that stuff will to you if you just do the right thing.
Brandon Palmer
This month I have read about 260 pages. It was two muscle body books, and i finished up my other book called "Sunrise over Falluja. My favorite book was the second body building one with Joe.
This month I did not read as much as I normally do, I think i deserve about a "B" because thats around the number of pages i read that is required for that grade.
In the body book I had it had everything for eating rite to lifting and even good stuff to take to help you do both. And some of the stories in it of other real people loosing weight, and getting more built and thats what I want. So seeing other real live people do it makes me fill like it is something I can do, and thats its not just something that you have to wish for. And seeing the results of the people in their body was shocking, its amazing what a little hard work, and dedication will get someone. This book is mainly about getting into good health, and having that book as a good guide on the way there.
But I would be crazy not to recommend this to another person that is trying to get into better shape. Al i'm saying is its one of the best books I have ever read.
This Trevor Brown.
For the month of November I read 750 pages and 3 books. The titles of the books I read were Goal, Beastly, and i started the book traitor. I have not abandon any books this month but i am thinking of abandoning Traitor because it gets off track. I believe i deserve an A because i read 400 pages more Than the standard amount and kept reading. My goal for the next reading reflection is to have at least 500 to 600 pages.
One book that i read this month that i would like to attract attention to is Beastly because it was an amazing book. The book Beastly is a story about a 17 year old child named Kyle Kingsbury who had it all: the looks, the friends, the girls, the money, etc. Then one day when they were having homecoming elections he got called out by a gothic girl. After being called out he thought it would be funny to ask this girl to dance but actually go with the cutest girl in the school named Sloan Haygen. The gothic girl arrived at the dance only to played as a fool by Kyle and his real date Sloan. After making fun of her they got homecoming prince and princess then went back to sloan's place where they did stuff we don't talk about. After that he went home and in his room he found the goth girl sitting on his bed who turned out to be a witch. She put a smell on him that turned him from the best looking guy to a hairy looking beast, and the only way to break the curse was to find true love in two years. I would recommend this book to someone because it is an amazing book that shows no matter how you look or how rich you are you wont always have someones respect and something can happen and turn for the worst. Someone might like this book because it is a more realistic beauty and the beast novel.
Tori Blevins
This month I do not remember the exact number of pages I read. The title of the book I read was The Pact by Jodi Picoult. I did not abandon any books this month. Based on the grading chart, I believe I deserve an A, because I know for a fact my book was over 350 pages, I just can not tell you the exact number. Next month I do plan on reading more than 350 pages and plan on starting on a second book instead of only completing one.
My book was about two teenagers, a boy named Chris, and a girl named Emily. Since birth they have been inseparable, and destined to be together someday. That day eventually came when they made it official; they wanted to be more than just friends. Most couples always say when they are in love; they would do anything to make the other one happy. No one ever thought that dying would make Emily happy, but it was what she wanted. Because Chris loved her so much he knew he would have to let her shoot herself, but when the day came that she planned on doing it herself, she couldn’t. So her next option was to have someone do it for her; and who better to do it than the one that loved her the most, Chris. I personally do think I should inform you of anything else until you have read the book. It’s always best to keep you wondering.
My reactions toward the book were shocking. I noticed I always caught myself “jaw dropped” in this book! They always kept you wondering what was going to happen next and I liked how it kept switching from past to present, because you were finding out more and more clues, but yet still not sure what the answer to everyone’s question was. I would definitely recommend this book to another person.
Quinton Baldwin
I read 323 pages this month. One of the books that i read was "American Victorian and the Civil War." Another book that I'm still reading is "Bill Snider, They said it couldn't be done." I didn't abandon any books this month because i ad to read "American Victorian and the Civil War," because it was required for my Dual Credit American History class. I also believe that what Bill Snyder has done to the Kansas State Wildcats is an amazing adventure and learning experience so far. The grade that i deserve is a "B," because i didn't quite make my mark of 350 pages but was just a little under it as well. Since i didn't meet the requirement i have learned that i should not only read more in school but also at home and that reading not only help you in class but it can help you on the ACT.
The book that i like the most is "Bill Snyder, They said it couldn't be done." This book showed me how long and how much effort and time Bill put into his career to finally make it to become a head football coach. Snyder grew up in St.Joseph, Missouri for the longest time he went to William Jewell college and made straight "B's," throughout his whole college experience. He has worked with some of the best at Iowa and at USC and he then finally got a call from the KSU athletic director and he asked him if he was interested in coming in for an interview and snyder couldn't refuse so he said yes and when snyder got the job he wanted to do so much to the athletic atmosphere but he couldn't because the school didn't have enough funds at the time.
I would recommend this book because to anyone because it shows not only shows college atmosphere but it also shows how life never turns out how you want it to at any time in life.

This month I have read 323 pages. The title of my book I read is Gym Candy. I did not abandon any books this month; I stuck with one book and one book only. Based on the grading chart I believe I should get an A. The book that I am going to do my reading reflection on is Gym Candy. All of my friends in school always talked about how good this book were, and I never really believed them because I have never found a good book so it did not intrigue me to want to read it. After listening to it for two full years and seeing want to my friends read it on the weekends and he never reads I finally just told him to give me the book when he was done reading it. I started the book and it really was as good as everyone made it out to be. It wasn’t good enough for me to say I couldn’t put it down, I don’t know if I will ever be able to say that because I am not inspired much by reading. The summary of my book is that there is this kid and ever since he was born he dad has drowned him with football this, football that, and he loved it. Then one game he was stopped short and thought that he needed steroids to get him over the hump that he needed to better than everybody else on the field. He went ahead and used the steroids and never looked back until one day his friend caught him after the championship game they just had won and wanted to talk about it. They drove to their park and he pulled out a gun when his friend said he was going to tell the coach because he didn’t believe they won the game fair and square. The gun didn’t threaten his friend at all so when his friend started walking about he put the gun to his head and pulled the trigger. The next day he woke up in the hospital because when he shot he jerked and nicked his head just enough to knock him unconscious. That is how the story ended and it was a really good book. I would recommend this book to anybody simply because it is just that good…

For the month of November I read 1948 pages. The books I read include Feed, The Bride Collector and The Musician’s Daughter. I also read The Willoughby’s Alphabet of Dreams and The Song of an Innocent Bystander. I didn’t abandon any books this month because I try to pick books I’m really going to like and want to read. Based on the chart I think I deserve an A for the month.
One of the books I read that I really liked was Feed by M.T. Anderson. It was based around the life of a teenage boy- Titus- in the future and how after meting a strange girl -Violet- on a weekend trip to the Moon his world is turned upside down. When they start dating things start out fine but then after being attacked by a hacker in a nightclub Violets feed starts messing up. After many months of trying to fix it and still fit in with Titus’ friends she eventually gives up and starts to die a slow and depressing death.
I only did one reflection on this book because I read it so fast but the one I did do was about hoe I thought that Titus’ dad was being a jerk to violet after telling her that they had cut down Jefferson Park to build an air farm. I would defiantly recommend this book to someone who not only likes books about the future but also people who want to still believe in the individual person and not just being part of the group.
Darian McClellan
For the month of November I read a total of 53 pages. I finished “Deadline” and “A great and terrible beauty”. I didn’t abandon any books because I enjoyed the books I read. Based on the grading chart I deserve an A because I went way over 350.
Out of the two books “Deadline” I would have to say was my favorite. It was mainly about a senior in high school that finds out he has only one more year to live because he has cancer. Him being 18 he decides not to tell his parents, nor anyone at all what is going on. Throughout the book it tells his struggles and how different you look at life when you have a time limit. He tries new things like football for example. Even though he was the best on the Cross Country team he just wanted to try new things. Football got him more noticed also helped him meet Dallas. Which lead to a problem because he can’t fall in love? Or talk about the future like she wants too. Instead of going through treatment and getting a little bit more time, He decides not to go through with it and lose all his hair. The doctors and the counselor’s hate his decision but they cant make him do anything.
I would defiantly recommend this book to someone. Its one of those books you hate putting down.
Sidney Keith
First Part:
The month of November I read 298 pages. This month I didn’t abandon any books, I finished “The Lost Boy” and started the book called “Three Little Words”. I honestly think I deserve a b because I read during class, took some time of my own to read and I reached the pages that are on the grading chart under a B.
Second part:
The book I choose to talk about is “The Lost Boy”. The main idea of the book was about a young boy who tries to figure out who he is. He goes through phases where he think he needs to be bad to fit in and ends up getting caught. I think he is like this because David was beaten and abused by his mother when he was younger and wasn’t loved so he wants to be liked by the children in his school. The law takes him from his mother and they put him in like 10 foster homes. All David wanted was to be loved by his mother and father, but sadly David’s parents never cared for him. This book made me very frustrated because David was making poor decisions. He had a way better life then he did with his mother and was choosing to steal and get in trouble and this could cause him to go back to his abusive mother. This book made me very upset because I could not even imagine the pain the kids go through.
Yes I would recommend this book to another person because it is a very good, true, touching, inspiring story. I like this book because these are things I have always wondered how foster homes work and this helped a little. People who like real, inspiring, and sad stories would like this book.
Malia Clark Part 1
This month I read right between 249 and 349 pages, the books I read are “Unseen Companion” and “Billy Standish was Here”. I did not abandon any books this month, because I read the summary of the books I picked so I could tell if I liked them! Because I did not read the 350 pages needed for an A, I think I deserve at least a B for reading as much as I did, because I tried really hard to meet the requirements, but i didn’t end up getting there. Since I did not meet the required amount of pages, I will try to make more time to read so I get there, I will actually work on my homework in class, so I can get more done and be able to read at home.
“Unseen Companion” is about a young white girl who lives in Bethel, Alaska. Her mom, Mr. Samuels, and her all live together in a shack in the small town. Her and her mom are the cooks for the town jail, and Lorraine delivers the food back and forth in her Carry-O-Meal. One day while she is delivering the breakfast to the jail, she sees the warden beating on a prisoner. The prisoner looks really young to her, about 16 years of age, and she gets suspicious. She doesn’t really meddle in that business until she finds a note in the Carry-O-Meal when she gets home. The note reads “Tell her to help”, Lorraine being the person she is thinks “her” is herself. She asks people who work at the jail about the boy, but he has just disappeared, and no one has seen him. The warden did a excellent job at hiding the underage prisoner. Lorraine works hard to find the boy, Dove Alexie, because he is injured and he needs help! Her mom takes on a job at the local orphanage, where Lorraine meets a young girl named Evelyn. She claims she is a shaman, so Lorraine gets her to help find Alexie. When they can’t find Dove, due to the lack of information, Lorraine has a dream she sees him laying face up on the tundra, hurt. Well the next day, a bunch of trappers are outside the jailhouse, and Lorraine and Evelyn go to see what is going on, the sheriff says they have found a boy, and Lorraine instantly knows it was Dove. He is dead now. It’s really quite sad!

This month I read a total of 369 pages. I had to read two books to get this amount of pages. The books I read this month were Never Forget (215 pgs) and Crack Back (154 pgs). Yes I abandoned the book Never Forget because, just reading the stories about 9/11 were hard for me so I had to abandon it. Based on the grading chart I think I disserve 20 pts because I read 350+ pages this month.
Well in Never Forget the book was focusing on 9/11 and the tragic things that happened on that day. This book was made my 2 people who went out and interviewed some of the people who were evolved in 9/11. A man told a story about how he lived not to far form tower one and when it fell it shook his house so bad that he flew across the house and it broke the windows out of his house and he lost everything he needed for a big thing that was due at work the next day. He was lucky that his wife didn’t go to work that day cause she worked in the towers but luckily she was shopping and not at work. This book was very hard to read because the stories were so sad. Yes I would recommend the book to someone who was interested in hearing stuff about 9/11. Another person would probably like just hearing stuff about the accident.
Malia Clark Part 2
I did not meet the requirements for this months reading, so next month I intend on working harder to complete my work in class, so that I will have more reading time at home. I will do everything in my power to meet next months requirements! I have to start, because it will end up hurting my grade once the number of pages increase!
I would really recommend this book to others because it just has a wonderful story! It shows that you can still make something happen, even if you don’t succeed! For instance, Lorraine and Evelyn tried so hard too find Dove Alexie, but they didn’t, until it was to late. But, out of this failure, they got better people elected to serve at the jail, the town seen what that horrible man Arnie Hanger was doing at the jail, and they seen that these little girls were working really hard, because they cared about someone they barley knew!
Lorraine and Evelyn are the characters that changed the most, because they both started out being hateful, stuck up, annoying, brats. And they were mean to each other, but throughout the story, and working together to find Dove, they became close, they started caring about others, and they are now like sisters.
While I was reading, I had feelings of excitement, happiness, suspense, and many others. This book just displays so much, and it has so many twists there is no way you don’t experience feelings! I didn’t really make any connections however, because I have never experienced something like that, but I know others might have.
Overall, I loved this book, so I know you will too! But, you’ll never know until you read it! ( :

The total pages I read for the month of November are 358 pages. The grade i believe i deserve is and A.The title of the books I read were Dark Calling by Darren Shan, The Musician’s Daughter by Susan Dunlap, and The Great Deluge by Douglas Brinkley. The books that I have abandon this month was Dark Calling by Darren Shan. The reason why I abandon dark calling because it just didn’t feel right to read a book about how people to terrible things to other people. The other thing that prevented me from reading the book that I couldn’t find the beginning of the series. The second book I abandon this month was The Great Deluge. The reason why I dropped this book was because it was just telling straight hard facts about the three worst hurricanes in United States history.
The main idea for the book of the musician’s daughter was no matter what you may go through it always to find the truth of what happen before you miss accuse someone of doing something horrible. The reason I choose this for the main theme is because the daughter of the musician’s a goes through getting thrown in a basement of the opera house and she had to escape to save her life. That is just one of the many problems she had to face so she could find out who killed her father. Some of the emotions that I felt when I was reading were anger, sadness, helpless, and happy. One of the many connections that I made with the book was at the end of the book her father’s violin was dropped and scattered in to a hundred pieces. This reminded me of when I dropped my brand new trumpet on the football before the half time show. The emotion that I felt at the moment was that my parents are going to murder me and I was sad because it was my first trumpet that I actually owned.
The characters changed from being hard core to loving. This had happen to the main character because of the security guards that had brought her fathers remains began to help her find who killed her father. So this was start of them falling in love as time went on. But it was a disgrace for a wealthy person to fall in love with a peasant in that time period.
I would recommend this book to another person because it keeps you on toes due to has some romantic parts then goes to action pack exploration right after the romantic part. The other person that reads this book would like how it draws you in as the book goes on. Also you never know what would happen when you would turn the page or read on. Then the other thing is that all sudden it just drops the bomb on you at the end of the book by telling how her father was killed.
I read 354 Pages this month. I read Code Orange and Star Wars Force Unleashed. No I have not abandoned any books. I believe I deserve an A because I have read the pages I needed.
In The book Star Wars Force Unleashed you are a young soon to be Jedi. But during a fight, your father is killed by Darth Vador. After he is killed, Darth Vador kidnaps you and you live under him as his apprentice. after various missions you accomplish, Darth Vador is forced to turn on you by his Master Darth Sidious. after you are presumed dead but still alive you have to gather up as many people you want to rebel against lord Sidious and finish him off. Well as soon as you do. You fall into a trap that Darth Vador lied to you about and he doesn't agree to kill Darth Sidious. So you are wound up attempting to kill Darth Vador, But lose heavily in the Light Sabor match. You die...end of book.
I would strongly recommend this book for people who like the star wars trilogy. This book falls between Episode 3 and Episode 4.
SCOTT PATRYLAK
i read 165 pages this month. thats not great but its better then last month. i deserve a "C". i read all these pages form the book "The Art Of Zombie Warfare". I know i didnt do to good this month so next month im going to try to do better.
This book is about how to training a army to be a zombie army. Its a funny book but he has some good points, like in the book he says "zombies are the perfect soldiers" then he goes on to prove how his point is right. The book also talks about how to fight like a zombie. I know it sounds stupid but he has some good point.
I really enjoyed what I have read so far because it is very interesting to me. Its a very funny book and I would sagest it to a friend.

This month I read 457 pages, and 2 books. The books I read were Abduction, and What My Mother Doesn’t Know. I didn’t abandon any book, because I really enjoyed the ones that I read. And based on the grading scale, the grade I should get is an A because I read over 350 pages.
The book I chose to write about is Abduction, it’s about a little boy who gets Abducted by his real father that he’s never met before and his sister tries to save him, but ends up getting abducted by him as well. Bonnie, the sister, was almost shot, but Matt, the little boy, saved her and they got home well and safe. From going back and reading my reading logs some of my thoughts and feelings during the book were nervous, and thankful for my little brother and hoping that never happens to him. The book also made me mad because Dennis, the dad, was so mean to both of the children for no reason. And he lied.
I would recommend this book to someone because it’s a really good book. I think someone would like this book because it’s a thriller book and keeps your on the edge of your seat.

This month I read 254 pages. The book I read was called Lucky, but Alice Sebold. I did not abandon any books this month. Lucky was the only one I read and I stuff to it. I believe I deserve a B (17 points) because I met the requirements, even though I didn’t read as many pages as I would have liked.
My book is about a college girl who is walking through the park and gets raped by a black man. While doing all these things to her, she can’t help but think what her family is going to think of her when they find out. After being taken to the hospital and everything else, my book basically talks about how people think of her now. Her family, her friends, fellow college students. The girls family has always been really distant. Her mom and dad don’t really talk to each other and the whole family is really judgmental, so of course they looked at her totally different after the rape.
I like these kind of suspenseful books, but I wouldn’t recommend this book to anyone. It’s not very interesting and I got lost and bored a couple of times. The main reason I think someone would like this book is because the first chapter is really descriptive and makes you not want to put the book down.
For the month of November I read a total of 3 books, I read “Lucky”, “Sold”, and “The Devine Secrets of the Ya Ya Sisterhood”. I read a total of 668 pages, “The Devine secrets of the Ya Ya Sisterhood” was the longest book out of all them. I didn’t abandon any books this month and so there for I think that I deserve an A for this month because I meat all of the reading requirements and didn’t abandon any books.
In the month of November my favorite book was “The Devine Secrets of the Ya Ya Sisterhood”, it is about 4 old ladies that have been friends since they were little and they made a pact that no matter what they were going to stay together through thick and thin, but when one of the “sisters” gets sent to an asylum she tries to break away and be by herself. But the other “sisters” wouldn’t let her be alone and they go after her to save her from loneliness. If I had a chance to I would recommend this book to people because of the tone and feeling that the book gives off, it shows people to stay by your friends.

This month i read 401 pages. I finished the book Death of Kings and read the entire book Code Talkers and started The Outdoor Kids. I believe I deserve an A because i read enough pages.
The book Code Talkers is about Navajo Indians and their part in World War II. One navajo takes you through training and the beach landings. He also tells the thoughts and things that were happening throughout the war. The main part of the navajos is that they used their language to relay message between units and command centers.
I highly recommend this book to anyone who likes to read war books. After the first few chapters I was a bit skeptical about how much actual fighting would be in the book but they did cover three or four island landings and take overs.
JESSE WALTERS this month i have read 320 pages.i read the book "Bunker 10." I have also started the book "New Dead." This month i was only 30 pages away from A. Next month I will try to read more in our class time since we really didn't do it this month.
"Bunker 10", it was a slow starting book. There where kids that where really smart that where part of the army. They could build small gadgets. The whole time he was trying to plan a date of the base with lesley. But a bunch of things go bad on the base that wouldn't allow them to. My reaction to the book kept changing from boring to good. i said boring because it started out so slow, But then crazy stuff happens and made me change my mind. I would recommend this book to people that like slow starts and then it changes in like 5 pages.

During this month I read the book The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test and I read 170 pages, and I didn’t abandon any books this month because I wasn’t reading more than one book. And the grade I think I deserve is a “C”, because that’s what the grading chart says C = 148-248 = 15 pts so that why I think I deserve a “C”. The reason I didn’t reach the page requirement because I only read when I was supposed to like during class and during SSR and when we read on Wednesday. I can reach the page requirement by reading more.
I think the main idea of my book is that the Kesey guy in the book is trying to graduate from acid and it’s about the adventures they go on to reach the goal of graduating and their downfalls like getting arrested and other things. But that’s my main idea of the book there can be another main idea. I would recommend this book to someone else to read, and I don’t know what it is about this book that someone would like, if they want to read it they can if they don’t then don’t.

I have read 359 pages. The title of the books I’ve read were “Uglies” and “SOLD”. In the month of November, I have not abandoned any books. I believe I deserve an A because I have met the requirements needed in order to have an A.
The book “SOLD” is about a girl who lives in small village called Napal. This girl’s name is Lakshmi she is 13 years old. She gets sold by her step father to work in India for, what she thinks, as a maid. In all reality she’s going to work as a prostitute. The main idea is excellent and also I would most definitely recommend this book. This book can certainly change a persons point of view on things that happen in third world countries.

This month I have read around 250 pages. The book I read is Born To Rock by Gordon Korman. I have not abandoned any books this month. On the grading chart I think I deserve about a B, since you need 249-349 to have a B, and I have 250+. 1 page more for the chart requirement.
The book is about a kid named Leo, that got caught “cheating” on a test his senior year. Instead of letting the other kid get all the blame put on him because the principal didn’t like him due to the fact that he was gay, Leo put it all on himself. And because of that choice, he lost his full ride scholarship to Harvard. At the same time that he found out he lost his scholarship, he finds out that the guy he’s been calling dad, isn’t really his biological dad. His real dad is a famous rock star of the worlds most reckless, careless band, Purge. He decides to find the rock star, prove to him that they’re father and son, then ask him for the money to go to collage. After being thrown out of concerts and meetings, he finally gets through to the man, and is offered to go on a tour with the band as a groupie until the test come back saying if they are in fact father and son, or not. After so many concerts, fights, and riots, the test come back negative, but a note with the document helped him find his real father: the manager of the band.
Yes I would recommend this book to another person who likes comedy, and reading about fights, or recklessness and being careless.

This month I read 365 pages, I was very proud of myself to meet the reading requirement. A few books. I read the best book of my life “First Shot”. It was the best thriller I have ever read. I also started reading the book “Finding Lubchenko”. Its also A really good thriller book. They both have the same plot, their father’s were framed for murder. I proudly did not abandon any books this month. And based on the grading scale I clearly deserve an A+. I plan to keep on meeting the reading requirment.
The book I’m going to summarize is “First Shot”. During this book, there is this boy that goes to a military type school. But he has no normal life at all. His mother was murdered two years before the time the book was written. His father is also the dean of the school, so he has more hard of a time then every one else. If you are bad at this school they can take away meals and make you take cold showers. The school has a very respectful award they give out each year called First Shot. This is a show of who can shoot a black powered rifle the best. But before all this could happen his dad was accused of murdering his mother two years before. His father admitted to it because he believed his son killed his mother. So he admitted to it because he loved his son although he gave him the hardest time. Comes to find out. His fathers business partner is the one who accually murdered his mom.
I was on the edge of my seat this whole book. I read this book in like one week because I was that interested in it. I was totally blind sided when his father said he thought that his son killed his mother. It was just mind blowing because at that point I couldn’t tell what was going to happen.
I would recommend this book to any one who enjoys thrillers and edge of seat reading books.
This month I have read over 8 pages. The book I attempted to read was Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. I think that I deserve an A due to the fact that I have a reading disability and I’m in an advanced reading class. I can’t say much about the book sense I only read the first 8 pages. But it’s a good book, but I’m thinking about abandoning it just cause it’s out of my level. I would recommend it someone that can read at those levels.

This month I read 300 pages, the book that I read was sweet and vicious. No I did not abandon any books this month because I am reading a series. I believe I deserve a B because I read 300 pages and the chart says that if you read 249-249, you will get a b and 17 pts. I will read faster and get a book quicker then what I did this time.
This month I read the book called “sweet and vicious”. This book is the series to the other books I am reading. The main idea of my book is it’s about two main girls named Marnie and Nola and they use to be best friends. Now that they are not friends anymore nola is trying every little thing she can do to get marnie back. Nola is in love with her best friend matt and he has no idea that she likes him like that, she just plays it off that she is just friends but in that back of her mind she keeps thinking how things woud be if they were and “item”. Marnie is going to homecoming with her boyfriend dane and bryenne saw marnie at the skate park with saywer and if she don’t do everything she tells her to do then she will tell lizette that marnie was all over her ex. (big big lie). I had a few connections that I made during this book was like one time when me and my best friend were fighting she told one of my other friends that I liked her boyfriend and I really didn’t but everyone thought that I did so my boyfriend broke up with me and that guy wasn’t my friend anymore.

This month I have read about 312 pages. I have been reading two books, the first Being Diva, and the second, Twilight. I did not abandon any books this month, I’ve been enjoying both of the books I’ve been reading, but I have gotten further into twilight than I have Diva.
Based on the grading scale, I would only get a B on my reading, but for me, I’m not much of a reader, and for me to read that many pages, is pretty good. It only says I deserve a B, but I definitely think I deserve an A.
Since I didn’t read my goal, I will set a new one. I will try my best to reach 350 this month or more. I will need to focus more, and go home every day and read at least 2 chapters, or read for 20 minutes.
My favorite book I have read this month was, Twilight By: Stephanie Meyer. This book is about A girl named Bella, who moves in with her in a complete different town called Forks Washington. She is more of a shy girl, and is attending a new school, without knowing anyone. But there was this one guy named Edward Cullen. He also had other siblings who attend the school. She had some classes with him, and he completely acted shady towards her. She didn’t know his problem, She didn’t know he was a bloodthirsty vampire, but he only fed off of animal blood. So him and his family are basically vegetarians. Bella’s blood is a lot more sweet and rare to Edward, and as they both are falling in love, he must keep calm at any time, and any place.
My reactions to the book were extremely different. I had different reactions within the book. At the beginning of the book, my thoughts were confused. I didn’t know why Edward was acting towards Bella the way he was. My feelings were in that “aww” feeling. It is a love story after all. The connection I made to the book was when Bella moved in with her dad and she didn’t want to. That has happened to me multiple times. Characters changed during the beginning of the book. She starts off with her normal school friends, then moves to her new vampire family. The themes did not change. The book only talked about Forks, Washington.
I do recommend this book to EVERYONE. I am not much of a reader, and I completely fell in love with this book. In my opinion, it is much better for the movie, and you will never want to put it down. This book is extremely adventurous is what people will like. The words are very descriptive, and makes me feel like I’m in Forks, with Bella and the other characters.

This month I read around 220 pages this month. The two books I read this year were Hideaway by Dean Koontz and The Steel Wave. Hideaway I began reading last month and finished it almost halfway through the month. After that I began reading The Steel Wave where I have read 70 pages in it. I did not abandon any books this month. The grade I think I deserve is a C. To meet the requirement next time I will have to read at home more often to reach the 350+ range.
The book I wish to focus on for this reflection is Hideaway. It is a about a man named Hatch Harrison who after a car wreck dies but is brought back to life. He begins to put his life back together when he begins to realize he has some kind of psychological connection to a murderer. Once he realizes it he has to protect his family because the killer knows that he is connected to Hatch. Throughout my reading reflections for this book I often made predictions on what would happen next and many of them were true. This book felt somewhat like a mystery and because as you keep reading you want to figure what happens and you can begin to figure out and predict what will happen. I would recommend this book to another person because it is a fantastic suspense thriller that any one who likes mystery or a book that’s full thrills and suspense will like it.

This month I have read 100 pages. The title of the book that I have read was “The Clique.” I think I deserve a ‘D’ because I have read 100 pages and that’s what it says on the grading scale.
In the book “The Clique” it is about this girl moving into a new town and having to go to a new school, but the thing is that, she lives with this really rich family. The school she has to go to is a really rich and fancy school. It was a private school. When Claire meets Massie Block she was so happy to make new friends. But what she didn’t no was that Massie Block looked down at a person that wasn’t like her. But Massie finally makes it clear that she will not associate with Claire because she has her own elite circle. And As the ringleader, Massie makes it clear to her clique that Claire is persona non grata.
I would definitely recommend this book to everyone. It is a good book, it is about cliques apparently and rich little girls who thinks’ there better then other people. This concludes my reading reflection.

This month I have read 400 pages. The books that I have read are: The Boy in the Striped Pajamas, Friday Night Lights, and Raiders Night.
I did not abandon any books this month, because I really liked all three of these books. I believe I deserve an A+ because we were supposed to read 350 pages to get an A, and I read 400.
Friday Night Lights, is about a football team that was from Texas, that had this really good football player named Boobie Miles. Boobie gets injured in one of the first games, and is out for the whole season. This backup comes in, and the team starts winning again, and they end up coming close to the championship. In one game boobie disobeys the doctor, and says he is ready to play again, and he gets hit, and it hurts his knee so bad, that it ends his career, and he would have been one of the best players ever.
I said in one reflection that I thought Boobie would come back, and be a great player, also I talked about how selfish and conceded he was. This was wrong because when he came back he got hurt even worse, and he changed from being a selfish guy to becoming a team member, and realizing it wasn’t all about him.
I also said that the Quarterback would show his dad, that he could hang on to a football, and that he wasn’t that bad, and this was completely correct, because he did show his dad up.
I would definitely recommend this book to any one that likes football, or just a good book. This book is one of my favorites ever, and I like the movie too.

I read 364 pages this month, I read 1894 and Becoming The Answer To Our Prayers, I did not abandon any books this month. I believe I deserve an A because I met the reading requirements.
This month I read Becoming The Answer To Our Prayers, it is a Christian “guide” to praying and leading the Christian community better. It breaks the Lords Prayer down and gives a meaning to each part. The two authors give their point of view on what it all means. They share life experiences to help you better understand prayer.
I would recommend this book to others because everyone needs guidance, especially in prayer.

I read about 350 pages this month so I think I deserve an A. I finished up my book for dual credit history which was 347 pages I think and it was called "Constitution and the Confederation." I also read "Four things My Geek-Jock-of-A- Best-Friend Must Do in Europe" but that was is not finished yet. I didn't abandon any books this month. I met my requirement so I don't have to do anything to prepare to make the requirement for next month.
The book I choose to summarize is "Four things My Geek-Jock-of-A-Best-Friend" the book was about the trip this girl took and it started off her writing a letter to her friend. She is on a trip most of the book, to Europe. She writes to her friend Delia about everything, every adventure they take, she says Delia would love all the guys from all over the world. She continues to write to her friend back home the entire book. A connection I could make is that she went on a cruise, and I also went on a cruise when I was younger. My feelings were kind of funny, I thought some of the things were funny.
I would recommend this book to another person because it was a girly book and it was kind of funny thoughout parts of the book. That's what I thought people would like about it.
Cassandra Peek-
I read about 460 pages this month. I read Chicken Soup For The Teenage Soul (30 pgs), The Life Book(106 pgs), John (60 pgs), American Revolution (260). I abandoned Chicken Soup because it was cheesy and not my grade level! and based on the grading chart i deserve an A. The book i want to give a summary about is the American Revolution because i spent the most time on that book. the main idea of the book was to express how the American Revolution was started and the outcomes from it. It talked about causes such as: Boston Tea Party, starting to pass Acts, and overall America wanted to be free from Britain. The effects of the revolution was that since we’ve lost Britain, we had lost many great things for America too. John Adams (character in the book) had came up with a plan and had started a Parliament, and from there the American government system had got to where they wanted to be. Instead of a monarch, we had a king. And we would have House of Representatives and Senate. I felt that my forefathers had been through a lot and still somehow Britain and it’s culture is going to be apart of America forever. But to get liberty and independence we had to get them out of the picture. I actually would not recommend this book as a fun read. But for a person who wants to learn more about our history and the American Revolution, i do recommend. Another person might like about this book is that they will find interesting things about the revolution that might not be taught in our history classes.

I read over 350 pages during the month of November. The books I read were “Just Listen” and “The Maximum Ride”. I finished “Just Listen” which was 350 pages and I started reading “The Maximum Ride” again. I didn’t abandon any books. I think I deserve an A for this month. I read over 350 pages.
One book I read was “Just Listen” which was a really good book. It was about a girl named Anabel. Anabel had a best friend named Sophie. One night Anabel, Sophie, and Emily went to a party together. Sophie was dating a popular boy named Will Cash. That night Sophie and Will were fighting and she found Anabel and Will in a room alone and it looked like Anabel was trying to get with Will. From this day on, Sophie hated Anabel. One day Sophie was making a big scene yelling at Anabel at school and Anabel ran off into the bushes. A boy named Owen went out to help her. After that day, Anabel and Owen started talking more and becoming friends. Anabel realized she was opening up to Owen like she never had before and found this really weird. She was telling Owen things that she had never told anyone. After a while, the truth came out about that night at the party. Anabel told Owen about how Will had actually raped her.
This book is really good and I would recommend it to someone else. It’s interesting and dramatic. It’s the kind of book that keeps you wanting to know more and more.
ABBIE MEERS.
for the month of November i have read 350 pages. I read Henry Adams for my college class and for fun i read Sold. I think that i deserve an A. Henry Adams was a really boring book and i would not recommend it to any one. I only read it for my class.
But on the other hand Sold was a very good book. It was very different then anything i have ever read because it was based on a true story. and i did not abandon any books for this month. and i would recommend Sold to all of my friends because i liked it so much I think they will too.

For the month of November I read over 350 pages. I read finished reading Shay’s Rebellion for my history class and I’m still reading Maximum Ride: Schools Out-Forever. I didn’t abandon any books this month. Based on the grading chart I believe I deserve an A.
The book I will be reflecting on is Maximum Ride: Schools Out-Forever. This book just keeps getting better. Right now the flock just found out Anne their guardian for the past months is really Maximums mom and has a part in the experiments. They couldn’t believe it, but Max had a feeling Anne was up to something that’s why she wanted to get the flock away already. So, they all took off to be on their own again. But when Max comes face to face with Arie again he asks her to run away with him. Just them two and leave the flock, Jeb, and Anne. But Max said no and it mad Arie even more mad so he decides the next time they meet he will take Max out. The hole flock is feeling alone now and I would too, because they almost had a normal life living with Anne and now they’re back to living in caves with no warm beds and no set home or food. They’re all scared at this point. I cant wait to finish the book to know how the flock ends up being on their own and what situations they have to face.
Yes I would recommend this book to another person because it’s a really fun book to read. Another person might like the fact that this is a mystery/action book that always catches your attention and theirs never a dual moment because its about people with wings.

The last month I finished “Jane Eyre” (complete 580pg) and “Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde” (complete 116pg). I read “Shades of Midnight” (complete 383pg) and started “Frankenstein” and “The dark Side of Love”.
Complete I read about 700 pages last month. I did not abandon any book.
I already wrote about Jane Eyre in my last reading reflection, so I will write about “The strange case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde” by Robert Louis Stevenson.
The book is an early kind of a mystery story. The well known professor Dr. Jekyll makes the unexpected discovery that a man consists of two parts – two different souls that live in him. One part is nice, friendly and amicable, the other one is evil, angry and detestable. Dr. Jekyll makes the experiment and finally successes in separating both parts. His evil self is now haunting the streets of London, committees crimes and frightens all people that see him. At first it is easy for him to switch between both sides of his soul but the more he gives in to the dark side, the harder gets it to go back and become Dr. Jekyll. Finally he has to stay Hyde and hides in his bureau. When a friend of his wants to know what happened to Dr. Jekyll and breaks the door to the bureau, he committees suicide and leaves a letter for him that explains the whole case. The first part of the story is written from the friends point of view, who does not know anything about the experiment but wants to save Jekyll from Hyde. At the end the story consists of the explaining letter of Jekyll and gives the solutions to all the questions.
I guess the main idea was at first to frighten the reader and second to warn them not to give in to the darker side, because every single one of us somehow has a dark side. The separation of the two part also seems to be something that can be analyzed psychiatrically. Some people have more than one personality which usually is developed after a significant, sometimes tragic event in the past. These personalities can be the total opposite of each other and fight themselves inside the patient’s mind. If you interpret it like that, Stevenson gives a protocol of a psychiatric disease that can impossibly be discovered at that time. Like in a miracle, he was ahead of his time.
I would recommend this book to everyone who likes the early, original criminal and fantasy stories. People who like big thrillers and action might be disappointed.

Mrs. Liapple,
I've read over 500 pages... i didn't keep an exact count, i was too lazy to. So with this said now, i move on to part 2 of the assignment.
The book that i read this month that i enjoyed the most was "No Country For Old Men", which you lent me. I loved this book. There's no other way to put it. When i really enjoy a book and delve deeply into it, i take my time reading it and enjoy it to the very end.
The story takes place on the border of Texas and Mexico, in a small rural county where "the Sheriff's biggest worry is a cat in the tree." Well, soon there were more worries for everyone on the police force. A man named Llewelyn Moss finds drug deal gone bad and ends up with a briefcase full of big bills. Soon Moss's finding turns into an adventure to avoid a hitman after that same cash and the sheriff of his home county trying to catch the hitman. The Hitman's name is Anton Chigurh, and he ended up gaining the money and returning it to the man it originally belonged to and killing Moss's wife Carla Jean. (In the movie, the way the epilogue was stated and in the book as well, it was told in old cowboy's parables, and it pretty much stated that Chigurh took off with both the money and Moss's wife and married her and lived happily, the book said he kills her.)
I give this book an eleven out of ten, and reccomend it to anyone who enjoys a good mystery adventure thriller...

This month I read 828 pages. The titles of my books were Diva and Identical. The book I abandoned is It’s not summer without you. I abandoned this book because it wasn’t interesting to read. I believe that I deserve an A because I Read over the amount of pages recommended.
One book I read this month was Identical. This book is about a girl that had a twin sister that died. And the girl still thinks she is there. The twin that is still alive has taken on both of the personalities of the girls. And lives two completely different lives. And the twins’ names were Kaeleigh and Raeanne. Their mother was running for US Congress and was never home with them. The father was very close to one of the girls, which made the other jealous and hate her sister for having that connection with him.
My thoughts on this book, is that it’s very confusing and sometimes hard follow. But I liked the mystery that came with reading on. Connections I made with the characters are that I have only one parent to depend and to love me. The characters changed because they both got what they wanted either wanting to feel or how to deal with the not being accepted by your own father.
I would recommend this book to people that can follow books easily when they are very confusing. This book does keep you interested the whole time with all the new things happening at once.

This month I have read 370 pages. The titles of the books are The Second Summer of the Sisterhood, Sundays at Tiffany’s, and Pride & Prejudice. I abandoned one book, The Second Summer of the Sisterhood. I was reading the book and it was a good book, but just not my favorite. I started to read Sundays at Tiffany’s and I really liked the book. So I stopped reading the Sisterhood book. I think I deserve an A because I read over 350 pages this time.
Sundays at Tiffany’s was about this little girl named Jane who had only one friend named Michael. She loved Michael and did everything with him. The only thing that was different about Michael was, he was imaginary. He had to leave on Jane on her 9th birthday and promised her she you never remember him. Twenty-three years later Michael was in New Your again and saw Jane, but she was all grown up. Jane saw Michael but couldn’t believe it because she wasn’t suppose to remember him but she did. They hung out talking about their lives and began falling for each other. They really loved each other and were always together. Michael began to turn human and they became a family and had kids.
At first I thought the book was a little slow, but really started to get into it. I was furious when Michael left Jane when she was little, but was glad when they got together. I would recommend this book to someone else because I thought it was really good. It had a lot of ups and downs. They might like that it had two people falling in love. There are some parts that are not the greatest and there is some language, but other than that it is a really good book.

This month I read 362 pages. I read the book called To Be a Man by: Anne Schraff, (181 pages) and the book called Wildflower by: Anne Schraff (181 pages). I think I deserve an A because I read the amount of pages required.
Out of the two books I like To Be a Man, because Trevor’s mother Mrs. Spain is always hard on him, and never lets him do a lot with his friends. So Trevor had his best friend Jaris ask his mother Monica who went to church every Sunday with Mrs. Spain, to talk too her and see why she so hard on him. And tell her that she should trust him and let him be a kid because he’s a great kid and is never in trouble. I feel that Trevor should get a chance to be free and at like a kid. My mom used to be the same way when I first started hanging out with friends. She made me be home at a certain time. And she had to know where I was at all times.
I’d recommend this to people who like teenage stories and teenage problems because this books about the problems that Trevor goes through with his mother, and what he does to solve them.
Tabatha Ellis
This month I have read 670 pages. The title to these books are Ghost Town, The Glass Castle, Bloodsucking Fiends, and Cirque Du Freak A Living Nightmare. I abandoned one book and that was Bloodsucking Fiend. I believe I deserve an A because I did read 670 pages and that is way over the required limit.
My reflection is going to be on the book Ghost Town, by Rachel Cain. This book is about a young girl trying to fix a machine that the vampire’s in the town use to wipe the memories of the people that are leaving. The only reason why Claire must do this is because she has killed vampire in self-defense. And now she must suffer the consequences by working with out rest until the machine is fixed. And once it is up and going it start’s wiping the memories of everyone in town. Claire must fix the machine before it is too late and everyone has forgotten. In the end she stops it but not without the lose of (her boyfriend) Shane’s dad. The main idea is to stop the machine before the vampires go completely crazy because of the memory lose and kill everyone. The characters changed a lot seeing as the lost 3 year’s of memory and have to figure out why.

This month I read 363 pages from two books, Only the Good Spy Young and A Kiss in Time. I met the page requirement for this month, so I believe that I deserve an A.
In Only the Good Spy Young, Cammie is the daughter of the headmistress of her school, Gallagher Academy. Her father, she has always been told, had died when she was very little. Also, another very important thing about the book is that Cammie is a spy in training. The Gallagher Academy for Exceptional Women is an all girls school that trains them for a career in espionage. Throughout this book, Cammie and her three best friends are sent on a wild goose chase by their former teacher to attempt to find out the truth about the past; the past where the paths in the lives of their teacher and of Cammie’s father were once crossed. The two men went to another school that is much like the Gallagher Academy…in some ways. Yet in other ways the two are vastly different. For a long time Cammie, as well as her friends and every other person within her own school, thought that Blackthorne was another spy school for boys. It turns out that in fact it is not; rather it is a school that trains boys to become assassins. Cammie’s teacher, whom she trusted very much, and her own father were a part of that school; also it turns out another evil organization called the Circle of Cavan. As Cammie and her three best friends follow the clues that their former teacher have left them, they find out the truth about the horrible school and about the lives of their teacher and of Cammie’s father.
While reading this, I almost felt like I was getting whiplash because of how this book is written. The author likes to leave cliffhangers at the end of every single chapter therefore I had many different feelings within a few pages at a time. I was feeling happy, because a good thing had just happened, and then a page later something would go horribly wrong and make me want to read more to see if everything turned out okay or not. Also, the cliffhangers at the end of the chapters always made me want to read more; I finished the book in three days because of this. I would definitely recommend this book to someone else because it is interesting and the plot is not seen very often and it isn’t overused. I think that a person would like this book because it mixes many different genres such as romance, mystery, and adventure.
November Reading Reflection Austyn Cordonnier 12/2/10
This month i have read 304 pages in Football Hero by Tim Green. And finished the book Sold by Patricia McCormick with 50 pages. A total of 354 pages for the month.
Football Hero was a book I read a lot at home where I kept it most of the time. I had only about 1 dislike on this book and that was that the chapters were too short, some chapter I didn’t understand or they were just pointless. I also have a connection with this book and it is that the main character Ty and his brother were real close and me and my brother (Tyler) are also close. I also liked it because I would love to pursue my career in football like his brother did but with no trouble.
Football hero was a book about a kid in middle school who lives with his aunt and uncle. His older brother Thane is going to get a pro contract for football and Ty accidentely tells Lucy things about Thane and Ty has to help his older bro out of trouble.
Sold was a book I chose to read at school most of the time in Lang. arts or in camp. This book was cruel in many ways and often I thought to my self how bad it would suck too be in her shoes. I didn’t like how it didn’t tell me what happened to her at the end. But I really like how the author used a lot of details explaining things.
Sold was about a twelve year old girl whom was poor. Her dad went to make her a maid and she became into a whore house and from there she was told she was too not get out unless her dad got out of debt and at the end she finally got out.
I believe I should receive an A or a B on this months reflection because it is required to have 249-350 pages and I have 354 pages.

November reading reflection
In the month of November I read 403 pages. My books this month were, The short second life of Bree Tanor and half of a book called obsession. I did not abandon any books but I thought about it. Based on the grading scale I should receive an A+ because I read the correct amount of pages.
My main book this month was The Short Second Life of Bree Tanor by Stephanie Meyer. This book was a spin off of the Twilight books. Bree was one of the vamps that the Cullens tried to save. In the end Bree had a very short second life. The only good thing about her second life was that she found love. I would suggest this book to others, but only if they liked the twilight series and have read the other books otherwise they would be very confused.

This month I believe I deserve an A because I read about 360 pages, I read the book Forever by: Judy Blume (200 pgs) and Canyons by: Gary Paulsen (156-160 pgs). My favorite book of the two is definitely Forever, because it is about a high school girl who meets a boy at a party and falls in love. Her name is Katherine and she met Michael at her bestfriend’s cousin’s New Years party. She instantly falls for him and they convince themselves they cannot be without each other for the rest of their lives. I can make a connection here to pretty much ALL high school students, they start dating someone and instantly are in “love” without even knowing the meaning of the word. Over the Summer Katherine’s parents make her get a job at a kids summer camp because they feel she is getting too attached and needs some space from Michael. In the beginning of the summer she hates it and is miserable but soon she finds herself having feelings for a fellow camp councilor. As the summer goes on Katherine comes to find out the difference between “true love” and “first love”.
I think this is a really good book because it has a dramatic and cute romantic story line that along the way unfolds into the meaning that Katherine discovers. I recommend Forever to any other high school students because maybe if they read it they might actually wake up from the little fairy tale “love” they think they are in and realize that not everything is as perfect as it seems.

I believe I should get an A because I have read over 350 pages for the month of November. I have read about over 1,000 pages in the last month. I have read "Taken by Midnight" by Lara Adrain, "Christian the lion" by Anthony Bourke & John Rendall, "Dope Sick" by Walter Dean Myers, and "My Appetite for Destruction" by Steven Adler.
"My appetite for Destruction" by Steven Adlar, is an auto-biograghy about his life has he became a rockstar and how the rockstar lifestyle changed him.The book talks about his drug addiction's with pot, meth and heroin. The book talks about how he be came a rockstar and became the drummer for Guns N Roses. Also how his drug addiction got so bad that he got kicked out of the band. I think the main idea for the book is to give you a look in to his life to see the mistakes that he made and hopes that you don't the same as he did. I would recommend this book to someone who loves music. I believe the story line is what people would like about it.
I have not finished my pages yet for this month. But I am reading a book that’s called Darkness before dawn by Sharon M. Draper. It has a total of 300 pages. Which would leave 350 pages unread for me. So I will have to make those pages up, and I will be sure to do so. I guess I deserve what ever it is you feel I should get. I do not expect and A or really a B at all. I know that it’s all under my responsibility to complete the pages required per month. As far as Abandon a book I didn’t do so. I have been so caught up in this book, and also trying to remember parts in the book, to do as my duet for speech and debate. So im really really into this book.
The book Darkness before dawn is the book that I am reading now. And it is a great book so far. It is a serious of book, and I am on the 3rd one, and the books by Sharon M. Draper are heart-feeling books. You get really involved with the books and the characters life. In my book a student name Andy killed himself and the other students (his friends, girlfriends, teammates) are dealing with it day by day. Also a year or two before so they had a friend die in a car accident. So these students in this book are really strong about everything because of what they have been through. A new student comes to the school, and the main character name Keisha (Andy’s Ex) becomes close with her. She feels new school year new things, new friends. Also the principal’s son becomes a new teacher at the school. He is a nice looking young man, and knows it and is cocky about it a little, and the students all can tell by the way he walks and talks. He knows he’s cute. One day after school the principal’s son sees Keisha and goes up to her and talks to her. He tells her things about him, and how she doesn’t have to call him by his last name. Keisha thinks it’s a little cute, but wonders all night about him. She tells her friends all about the conversation and they go wild and start telling Keisha that the principals son has a crush on her, and she’s left wondering confused. Does she move on from her EX Andy that past away, or get the principals son in trouble?

November Reading Reflection
MICHAEL GUNTER
Part One:
During the month of November I read a total of four hundred and seventeen pages in two books. The books I read were Final Freedom by Michael Vorenberg and Peeled by Joan Bauer. This month I did not abandon any books because my main focus was to read Final Freedom for one of my other classes. Based on the grading chart I believe that I deserve and have earned twenty points.
Part Two:
For this reading reflection I will focus on the book, Final Freedom by Michael Vorenberg. This book is not a story or novel but about the emancipation of slaves in the United States. This book takes you through the time period where many lawmakers and politicians debated heavily on how is the correct way to emancipate slaves where as others saw slaves as an economical resource that if taken away would hurt the economy of the United States. My reactions, thoughts, feelings, and connections that I made while reading this book all brought me back to when all of my teachers were teaching us about the era. I didn’t know until after I read that book why it was such a struggle to emancipate slaves and took years. There were no characters in this book and I would say that the theme of this particular book was how lawmakers struggle to emancipate slaves. I would not recommend this book to another person because it is very dry and reads worse than a college level textbook. What someone may like about this book is that it provides a lot of forceful information that might be useful if you’re in a class over this era like History 140.
This month I read a little under 300 pages. I Finished tears of a tiger and some of midnight oceans. I abandoned midnight oceans. Based n the reading chart I desserve a B.Next month I should not loose the book im interested in so ican read the amount of pages required.
“Tears of a Tiger “ was a great book . In the beginning andy and his friends go out riding around drinking beer after their basketball game. They end up in a fiery crash . Andy was driving drunk too much and lost control. Rob the captain and star basketball teammate looses his life. Andy struggles through the rest of his senior year always reminded of the horrifying night he murdered his best friend. I was so interested in the book, I actually read it pretty fast, It made me think of all the people that have died that were close r once close to me during my life at the end I got scared of what was coming next, like you r sitting around the corner of a hall and you know something bad is creeping up on you. In the end andy kills himself at home where he is found by his 7 year ld brother mom and friend. His suicide an attempt to escape pain leaves everyone in pain wondering why?

I think or feel like I deserve and A, because I had read over 500 pages, closer to 650. I read five books. I don’t remember the names of all of the books. I do remember that two of them where about basketball. One of them was hoops of steal. I also read out of my mind, and looking back in my reading logs I also read Outrunning the Darkness and Football hero.
Football hero is the book I want to tell you about. I usually don’t read books on sports but this month I did. I read three. Ty has an older brother, his name is thane and he plays pro sports. He plays football for the Jets. Thane and Ty parents die and so Ty being only a freshman has to move in with family. His uncle Gus is the guy the he moves in with and he is a jerk. He pretty much abuses Ty. Ty wants to play football and help out his coach and just do what is right. Uncle Gus bets on pro sports, he ends up getting caught up with the mafia. He also gets caught up the FBI. Honestly Uncle Gus just wants to do better so the FBI makes a deal with him, he don’t get in trouble if he helps them bring down the mafia.
It’s a great book and I think everyone should read it!

For the month of November i read 280 pages I read a book called "LUSH".I started to read a book called "SOLD" but then the library broght me this book because I asked the library to get it last year and i been on waiting list ever since. If i was to give my self a grade it would be 17 points.I did NOT meet the requirements but my plan for next time is to read more of the author of "LUSH" i love her books and the library got a whole bunch of them. The book "LUSH" is about this girl who is only in middle school and her father is an acloholic and she dont know what to do because the rest of her family thinks its perfectly okay.Sam is her name she writes a secret J.F.K is the signature of the responder in the library and asks for thier opinion. She meets this highschool boy and she thinks he is just the greatest thing in the world untill she goes with him to a highschool party and he gets her drunk and trys to do things with her that she dont agree with sober but being under the influence she cant contorl her actions. After that she really dont know what to do because she feels guitly. My reactions was i kinda know where she is coming from about the whole alcholic problem it played a huge roll in our disfuntional life when i was growing up. Good thing my dad grew out of it. I would probably recommend this book to my little cousins because my aunt passed away from withdraws from alchohol on top of her lupus and i just want her NEVER to let others actions influence her to do anything.
